Winifred Arrives

We finally received word that my cousin had arrived in town and was "out for delivery" on the big brown brown truck that sometimes brings new dollies to our door.  I waited by the dolly door to greet her.  Patty Pink and Lily Lavendar kept a close look out, since they are small enough to peek out of the dolly door.
It seemed like forever, but near lunchtime we heard a small, timid knock on the door.  Patty Pink and Lily Lavender began shouting, "She's here!  She's here!"  I threw open the door and there was Cousin Winifred!  She whispered hello, but seemed rather shy.  I remember that funny, shy feeling when I first crossed an ocean and arrived in a new home in a new country.
I was determined to make Winifred feel welcome, so I offered her Patty Pink as her very own Pretty Little Monster.  She smiled a little, and told me I could share her Winnie the Pooh if I wanted.  Winifred hesitantly told me she likes to be called Winnie for short, just like Pooh bear.  It seems she used to live near the "100 acre wood" where the stories took place.   She asked if we had any big woods near here to play in.  I told her we had some parks with a lot of trees.  Then, I told her we are leaving to see the ocean in two days!  That seemed to brighten her up a bit.
I thought Winifred might be hungry.  Mr. Allister Bear, who is also from England, had invited us for tea.  I thought Winifred would like that since we are all from England and could talk about our old home, while enjoying our new family.  I think Winifred will be very happy here.  I know I am very happy to have her here.  I think we will be the best of friends in no time at all!
